Mongolia – Mongolian researchers embark on genetic project to address common health issues

Mongolian researchers launched the “Mongolian Genome” project in 2019 in an attempt to enable the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary diseases and congenital malformations.
The “Mongolian Genome” project manager, J. Amarsanaa, said that Mongolians suffer from three diseases that cause the most deaths: esophageal cancer, stroke and heart failure. So he is keen on determining the causes of the three diseases. He speculated that the issue could be the lifestyle of Mongolians, adding that a change in the lifestyle could address that issue, but, he also said, it is luckily that it could be a genic issue, which must be determined.
